‘Play the game, change the game,’ Kingston’s female business leaders urge

While it took a lot of hard work, determination and patience, some of Kingston’s female business leaders say that sometimes it took pretending to be a mediocre white man to garner success in their fields.

“When I first started, I told myself: become a white man,” Rathi Perumal, CEO and founder of Uyir Engineering, said during the Inspiring Women of Kingston panel discussion on Thursday afternoon. “Play the game. Keep your head down and play the game. Learn as much as you can so that you create other opportunities for girls like you.”
